It's time to can the green beans and I have to go pick them.
My wife and kids love fresh green beans, I can't eat them, they gross me out.
Don't anyone say anything good while I'm gone, okay?
 
Just had a flashback of all the times I had to pick stuff in my dad's garden. He grew up on a farm, so he loved doing that kind of stuff. He would always plant 10 times more than he would ever need, and everyone in the neighborhood would end up with some. He passed away last October, and the gardens growing over with weeds and stuff. It's sad to see.

you should get into gardening! bring that patch back to its glory days!! i bet it would be a lot of fun for you, and you would end up feeling closer to him even though he's gone! 🙂

When I was a kid my Dad made me plow our garden spot with a push plow. He figured it would be good exercise for me. Much rather pick beans.

She just pulls the plow. She's entirely too valuable as a beast of burden/baker to work her in harvesting.
If it gets to be too much for me I'll buy a couple Mexicans.

i hate them canned, but cooked in a saucepan with real butter and chopped almonds is teh win!

 
I was picking beans form my garden just the other day. I had the beans growing on a fence 10' tall and the beans just happen to love the top 4' so that's where most the crop was. I had to get a ladder and put it on precarious positions on top of a stone wall (oh did I forget to mention this fence was right next to a 4' talls tone wall?). Was not fun and took me 45 minutes to harvest enough for the family. Much rather be picking the tomatoes!
