My tivo kicks butt.

However, is it worth to switch to series 2? Is the 2 hackable (can I put a larger drive in it)?

What do you guys think?

I did the 30 second hack around Xmas when I bought my series2, and now it seems to have reversed itself. Some "update" from Tivo? Is there any way to get it back?

Not worth it. The series 2 is smaller and has a longer dogbone, but otherwise you'll not notice the difference.

Especially if you're a lifetime subscriber, b/c you can't transfer the sub.

For me it was. I sold my 2 year old Series 1 on Egay for $179.00 I bought the Series 2 from Tivo for $99 after rebate (just got the check) and I have noticed a much cleaner nicer picture and faster channel changes and sometime in the next ten years maybe a use for the USB ports. As far as hacking it, I don't, but I am sure that it just as easy as the Series 1.

The only advantage of series 2 is the ability to schedule stuff from remote locations and * I could be wrong on this * ability to use broadband out of the box.
