my mobo fan doesn't have anything to latch onto the mobo to keep it in place! It does, but its not the same pin as whats near the mobo chipset.

Is there anything else I could use? like tye it to the mobo or use electrical tape?

Theoretically, you could maybe get away with that (emphasis maybe), but I would recommend finding out 1. if the fan is listed as compatible with your motherboard, and 2. how you're supposed to attach it, maybe by downloading the manual.
