I have the crazy feeling Dillards just screwed up my credit report

I looked at my credit report for the first time today in a couple years. There is a 2 year old Dillards credit card account that I never remember signing up for. I called Dillards to inform them of this, and they said they would close my account. I told them that I did not want it closed, I wanted it permanently removed from my credit report without trace as I have never had the account. They said they would forward the info the the credit companies. I have the feeling they will screw it up.

Edit: Just to screw it up more, i'm gonna apply for an Amex card.

So how was it on there if you didn't sign up for it? 😕

I'd kinda like to know that too. They had my address on file for where I was at 2 years ago (since moved). I've never received a call, gotten any statements, etc.

why the hell are you bitching to us about your credit if youre purposely going to fsck it up?

It's not really going to screw it up much, but the fact that I am going to have to flag my account will.

If you didn't sopen the account all you have to do is put in a dispute as "not mine". Go to the CAs website to file the dispute online.

Was the account in good standing? Has it been used? Credit report should tell you.
