After cleaning out the litter box and finding zero in the way of fecal matter for the second time, I have determined that the dog is sneaking down to the basement when I'm asleep and going to town at the after hours snack bar.

Ugh. Bad dog.

I'd look like that too if I was in the habit of eating sh*t.

My dog does this too. What's even worst is before I built the pen, he'd hang out under the chicken coupe. It's gormet cuisine to him.

I knew she had a taste for nuggets a while ago, when she came trotting into the living room with kitty litter on her snout, licking her chops, and with, of course, breath that smelled like sh*t. So I figure - OK, just keep an eye on the dog and don't let her go downstairs unsupervised.

She, being smarter than I, has found a loophole in my brilliant plan.

2 of my three dogs go for the litterbox snack bar aswell I dont understand it. They will not go out in the yard and eat thier own poo but will hunt it down in the litterbox like a pig hunts truffles.

I just put the litter box in a corner in the garage with a 2 ft wall of plywood around it. The kittys clear it but the pugs cant.

Actually I think it is amusing. sward666 has done a good job of creatively explaining the situation in a humorous manner. The visual of his dog sneaking off to the basement to indulge at "The Litter Box" snack bar and then to return to the sofa with a look of K9 innocence is quite amusing.

You perhaps just need to chill a little and not be so serious. :D

Indeed. You could argue that this thread stinks, but it otherwise is entertaining. ;)

I just wish it didn't call to mind the scent of combined dog breath and cat sh!t. :(
