I have only one working fan in my case. QUIET LIKE NO OTHER

So basically I'm a freak on silence. I use only Nexus fans because Vantec Stealth suck, and Nexus is even quieter than Panaflo. The only ones that come close are Papst, or SilenX.

Anyways, I have a 92mm Nexus on the CPU. That's it. The PSU had a 80mm, but I stuck some resistors in it and I guess I gave it too much - the fan won't spin up now. No problem. I have no intake. I do have a 120mm exhaust, but I turned it off using Speedfan. GPU is passively cooled using an NB cooler. NB has the fan unplugged.

Anyways, with only one 92mm fan, I'm in heaven on noise. I have a 7200.7 Barracuda that's suspended and my case is an Antec Sonata.

My temps are: 122F (50C) CPU, 104F (40C) Case, 116F (47C) HDD.

The system has been on 24/7 for a week now. My CRT monitor is louder than the PC.

What do you think?

WoW! How bout cpu temps when your under load? I love silence as well, but heck my oc would never allow me to accomplish what you have on air. I do have 3 Silenx 14dba fans and it is almost completely inaudible. Almost lol

Under continuous load (Benching, or other stress tests it climbs to 55), then my alarm goes off and speedfan kicks the 120mm into 100%.. and that's LOUD.

I used to be all about the OC, but I realized I could never think with so much noise... and I didn't notice a huge difference at 3000+ from 2600+.

Yea I agree with ya there. I really like the fans I got, but without an OC I could probably get away with the same as you (1 fan on HSF). After my oc starts to bore me ( if ever ) I will consider this. ;)

Sorry you'll have to speak in English.

The fan quit because I put too much resistance in it.. I cna get it working back by taking out a resistor.
I don't see how it's unsafe. Care to explain?

Only a few select stores sell them. I used to own Stealths but after I got the Nexus there was NO comparision. SilenX was in a scandal over at SPCR, so I only go Papst and Nexus.

Check them out at http://www.stopthenoise.com . Only a few places sell them, like only one in my province. Good thing that store is down the street from me. :)

honestly, I really like my 120MM Vantec stealth, and my Vantec Stealth 520W PSU. Both move a lot of air and are pretty quiet. As far as the others are concerned, though, they are pretty anemic in their airflow, even the 92mm, so i can see where you're coming from.

Yeah. At the very least, wire in a Panaflow running off the 5V.

I would get the fan going on the PSU..a PSU that over heats can do a lot of damage..and the hotter it runs, the less efficient it will be as well..

My thoughts exactly, even those designed for no fan run extremely hot, I wouldn't like to be that PSU under stress.

I have the 400W Seasonic Silent Tornado and two 80mm pabst case coolers, and then used Magic Fleece for silencing. My CPU is also a 80mm pabst, but my 9800pro run on stock cooling. For my next upgrade I will definately go for zalman coolers on CPU and videocard.

nice job simms. I use to be all about the overclock and fans galore, well until I put together my first SFF system. I usually use Panaflos, but I'm going to check out Nexus now too, I have a lot of passive cooling options going on in my systems now. I can finally sit at my computer and enjoy things now. I also picked up a PS not too long ago with a speed dial in the back to control the 120mm fan in it, works great.

It's really nice to have a quiet PS as well. Panaflo's at 5V would still be too loud in my system.
That's great to hear Vtrider. Definetely check out Nexus.. I've had Stealths, and Panaflos and nothing's quieter than Nexus.
