I have no ear for fan noise.

So I have a work machine that I built last spring. Almost every part was well chosen except the PSU. Just wanted something with decent watts and moderately quiet. After reading about some low-power hybrid psu I ended up with a Fry's special: raidmax rx-400p (yes laugh now, get it out of your system.)

So 10 months later and it's still running(mostly light duty, probably spent 80% of the time off) but the noise when I'm doing 3dCG is flat out annoying. A rattling metallic noise(when a fan spins up with the workload) jumps out from a pleasantly quiet idle. I get the corsair hx520 on sale to replace it and after the swap out I run a nice heavy Maya scene. I bought a cheap PSU before so it has to be the noise culprit, right?

Nope. It's the video card cooler (evga 7900gs ko).

So now I have a really nice PSU and a hybrid mid range PSU. I'm trying to decide if I should keep the Raidmax in the work machine and use the Corsair in my upcoming game machine. So I try to do some research on it.
But I cant find any specs on the model at Raidmax's site or any reviews online.(too old I guess)
-Anyone know of a site that has old specs for PSU's or some sort of general catalog?

Any help would be appreciated.

It's still sold at frys

[It's not a half bad little unit; Quiet, 120 and 80 mm fan, passive cooling mode, enough cables for my minimal needs. And no voltage selector on the back means PFC, yes? No power issues during use, so if it ain't broke, etc.]

The problem is not that the Raidmax is old. It's just a junker. Nobody would review a generic junker.

Sorry to be blunt.

Yeah, must have been on the cusp of raidmax switching to better oem. The 500W raidmax modular according to one reviewer at newegg, is actually the same internals as the Aerocool ZDBA. There were some reviews of their aluminum psu's with the same specs but with 2 80mm fans instead of 120mm+80mm.

guess I'll just wait for another corsair sale for a $60 hx520.
