I updated my BIOS, installed and after a few minutes of problems with my SATA RAID I was back in buisness. I initially booted up at 240mhz 1:1 default voltage with my OCZ PC3700 Gold that has been running 275 1:1 with my 2.4C (Forsale). So far 2 hrs into Folding and surfing I have had no problems. I will say that the overall feel/responsiveness is noticeable. I will be doing more of the normal tests after my work week on Wed. My temps are 70C with the default HSF and AS3 under full load.

Temps aren't too bad, I've seen my 3.0C hit 70C under load before. Of course, those are Abit temps.

This is 70C reported by Abit's monitoring program that everyone knows reads high. I am hoping to atleast hit 3.6gig with the Koolance but I am thinking I will be able to go higher with a voltage bump. 70C will be my limit however.

Good luck with the Exos... my results below.

-Koolance Exos
-2.8E (Prescott)
-2GB Kinston PC3200 (Mem Divider 5:4)
-Asus p4c800D-E

271FSB x 14 = 3.8ghz

Temps - Idle: 32C / Full Load: 44C - 46C (Asus Temps, so they are most likely a bit low)

Needless to say, I'm very impressed. I ordered the Exos and Prescott together, so I've never had this chip on air.

Nice OC...Well you have hit the limit where many believe the prescott has passed an equal speed northwood....Do you know of any 3.8 northwoods you can compare test with???

Don't bump voltage, i think MSI has disabled voltage adjustments on their bios due to electrical interference from voltage increases on the Prescott.

On a side note, is your IC7-G modded? Cause I got some OCZ 4000 gold that won't go over 255 bus 1:1 even with loosened timings at 2.8v

Hi orion7144
Did you updated your Bios for IC7G before you installted Prescott, Any reasons you choose Abit over Asus.

Not a modded MB, I had the IC7-G since it first came out. I did update the BIOS before I shut down to install. I am going to read those articles. Mine has been running fine at 240FSB default voltage but I have not tried to go higher since I have been working all week.

codehack2 I got the complete Koolance (blue, just like my Chieftec case) case not the Exos but they should be the same. I am still going to use all of my case fans that I currently have to keep the rest of the components cooler. What CPU block did you go with? I went with the new style that has the fittings already on it. The setup should be here by Friday so that will give me two days (Nights when the kids are asleep) to test it out.

Duvie I still have all of my numbers (and will use some of yours) from my 2.4C @ 275. I will be particuarly interested to see if the extra cache will make a difference in ripping speed and DC projects.

Reading the article on ocp it looks it's better to stay with old P4 then E as it wont be easy to overclock . orion7144 , I guess you are using a water cooled setup if you are increasing the voltage. How far did you go from 2.8 to ??

I used the CPU-200G. I already had it.

vcore = 1.5, and it's been that way since day one (2+ weeks). IMHO, upping the vcore has not been an issue, but again, that is just my personal exp.

Well, everything is installed in my Koolance case. Temps before the install were 70C under load (240 FSB 1:1 default Vcore) with the retail HSF. To my suprise my temps are now 56C under load in Accel mode or 60C in normal mode. I did not expect this big of a drop in temps. Makes me wish I could pop my 2.4C back in here and see if I could break 300FSB. Later I will be uping the FSB on this thing and see how far I can go.

It seems as if i am toped out at 249fsb. 250 will post but not boot to XP. Temps are only +1-2 degrees higher and I know my memory will do 275 1:1 on this board. Havent messed with the VCore yet.

This would be a good time to start testing a bit then...YOu have an old 2.4ghz cpu you have numbers on plus mine...I am wondering if 3.5ghz is the number the prescott comes more in lie with the northwood...Also wonder if some oft hese reports of better HT performance and better multimedia performance are real...

Duvie,

Feel wise everything is the same. I will run some bechmarks later this week. DVD X copy was noticably slower at 240fsb than on the 2.4 @ 275.
