1300 bucks will get you a great rig, even better if you can take some basic parts out of a previous rig. Anything you have now that you might want to transfer? The more money you have at the end for the expensive stuff, the better. Floppy, burner, DVD drive, ANYTHING? Or are you planning a totally new rig?

then i suggest a gf4 ti 4600, or if you can, wait until the new nvidia generation comes out. Other components, use the search engine or scroll back a few pages. theres multiple threads about gaming rigs that were posted in the last few days. good luck.

Wait for a few days, ATI will announce a new video card soon.

If you want to start thinking about the rest then here are my suggestions

P4 Northwood + Asus P4T533
At least 256MB of RAM
WD Special Edition HD
Good monitor, at least 19". I recomment Sony, but they are a bit expenssive.
If you are a hardcore gamer skip the speakers and get a decent set of headphones.

coeect me if I'm wrong but the best northwoods, at least for o/c are 1.8A and 2.26.. 2.26 tends to go 3ghz, they've stopped selling the 1.6A i think.

With 1300$ you should be able to add a 2.26 and if you're lucky you will get 3ghz with retail HSF
