I've had my 89 for...6 years now, I think. Have calculators come very far in the meantime?

sucks to you, maybe you should get like an umbilical cord for it or something :p

Actually, not very much at all...the Voyage 200 and TI-89 Titanium Edition (the two current "top" calculators in TI's lineup) are functionally exactly the same as the 89 that was released in 1998...they only have a bit more memory, a USB connector I think (in the case of the new 89), and obviously a larger screen and keypad on the V200 - but even those existed on the TI-92 Plus before it. I'm not too familiar with other calculator manufacturers, but I imagine they're not too much different.

what's the point with these fancy calculators anyway? I graudated with a comptuer science and engineering degree with a scientific calculator. My gf graduated EE with a scientific also.

I have a trusty TI-83 (non-plus), from a long while ago (~7or8 years ago). And a new one from 3 years ago (83 Plus!)

I've been using my Ti-83 calculator for more than four years. Right now, it is all covered with stickers.

Aye. The only time I've actually needed my ti83 was in calc 2 with polar graphs because I was a douche when it came to converting them and in differential the only time we used them was to get zeros:D

Hell, as I've said before on here, I lsot my calc all thorugh calc 2 and 3......it was under my car seat:D....fortunately I found it in time for my finals in 3.

Honestly, it saves you time here and there, but other than that, you don't really need it except for little stuff.

Then again, there was Linear Algebra...I most likely failed the final( i never got the grade back btw) because everyone else used a calculator to take shortcuts while I never bothered to and everyone finished in time but me....that and I didn't study that much for it either....;)

I got a B in the class, but I probably would have done better if I had more time on the final
