For some reason or another, I have lost my interest in computers.

Know a bit of Java and C++ but I really hate programming. No thank you.

But I always had my attachment to hardware. Building, fixing, upgrading, etc. At least the general IT stuff. Read the reviews, knew which one was the best product, recognize products, etc etc. I used to go browsing through computer stores just to look around even though I knew for sure I wasn't going to buy anything. I actually cared about the AT homepage.

Was also a PC gamer. Consoles suck! RTS games for me. Blizzard is god you know? Played all day, all night. Group of friends get together and we play Starcraft forever.

Messed around w/ networking stuff always, tried Linux, learned some webpage stuff, know a bit of Dreamweaver and all. Blah blah blah. Typical geek stuff right?

But now?

I don't play any PC games at all. Even the upcoming ones don't interest me. World of Warcraft? Who cares. Half Life 2? Bah. Tried the Rise of Nations demo but that wasn't appealing either. And I'm loving console games only now.

Computers? My computers becoming outdated. But I don't care anymore. I don't look to updgrade anymore and even thinking about downgrading (to a PIII 550) while selling off my extra computers. I only use it for web browsing anyways.

AT is even starting to bore me.

Whats happening to me?! :p Can I still call myself a geek?

I'm the same way now. No interest in upgrading my computer at all, don't even want to deal with it. I even have an Athlon XP 2400+ sitting at home I got for free that I haven't even felt like installing.

Not spelling. :p Declining typing skills.

Oh no, is this another sign I'm no longer a geek?!

As long as people still ask you to fix their computers, and you can confidently out-BS sales reps at B&M shops, you're still a geek. :)

Or you could just become a car geek (gearhead). Still room for lots of those on AT.

it's pretty simple, you are becoming a woman.

Actually, the transition away from geek would probably make him more male, seeing as he now can meet and engage in social interaction with women. :)

I too, use to love computer. I would stay up all night Fri to Sat night and play Populous, Simcity, Civilization, and Warcraft with friends. But, now I barely fire up my home computer and haven't play a game since last Oct - Nov, and I think it is the result of me working in the IT field. For the last 5 years I might spend 2 or 3 session on game per year, but I do spend quite a bit of time here at AT. However, I find AT is getting old hat and spend less than 30 min a day here...I use to spend 4-5 hours here per day.

It could be a good thing that you are not obsess with compute and have a real life.

yup, i'm getting somewhat bored with everything too. I play games only a little, but more and more I'm out drivin' around. I'm going from computer-->car, and for my sake, it's probably better in the end :D

Turn off the computer, go outside, get some sun, talk to some people you do not know. You know, get a life.

I'm finding myself slipping in that direction too.

When it comes down to it, I'd rather be driving than playing games.
