I started my computer, and now after everythign loads in Windows, i get the message "Kagou-Anti-Kro$oft says not today". When I press the "OK" button, my computer shuts down. The taskbar calls it "Driver memory Error". What should I do? As long as I do not press teh OK button, my computer does not shut down and is still usable. Should I get a new IP address from my company?

Thanks! Yes, i do have antivirus software, along with programs such as Mailwatcher and eTrust Inspection: Personal Edition, both supposodly there to block these kinds of viruses and worms. On numerous occassions, I my anti-virus software has caught the Wscript.KakWorm and ereaesed it, but I guess that it was not truly ereased.

Gibson486,

If you are having "numerous" problems of this type, you've got a major hole somewhere. Head to GRC.com and run some tests.

I think that's what I want, right Russ? :)

Thanks!

i had this particular virus a while back, it's a worm and has to do with not allowing a computer to start up on the first day of the month or something. you'll notice there's a kak.htm, a reg run command, i ended up finding the majority of the related files before i read a virus report. it's distributed via signatures in outlook express, and anyone you've sent mails to recently has most likely picked it up too

You're infected with Kak Worm. Search McAfee.com and such for the fix (it's rather easy). Another symptom you'll have is in your taskbar on boot there'll be a note about a "Driver Memory Error". Other than that, and sending itself out in e-mails, it doesn't do anything I know of.
