I have had it with windows XP, it wont keep its view details setting!

Ok, I have tried everything I know of to try and make every folder in windows xp view with details, however for some odd reason it keeps wanting to revert back to its crappy view icons setting. I have tried: tools-> Folder options->(Under General Tab) Use windows classic view -> (Under View Tab) -> Reset all folders, then I set the current folder to view details, then I apply to all folders. This does not work! I have tried multiple variations of it, including "remember each folder's view settings" but aghhh! It stays ok for about a while, but when I come in the morning to work or I wait a while, it will randomly go back to its view icons setting. I would appreciate any help.
