I finally said screw it, I'm keeping it. Running 1600x1200 DVI.

It's gorgeous, save for one dead pixel (red is stuck on).

As an added bonus, my speakers sound a lot better. I guess having a 50 lb 19" CRT directly in the center would have a negative impact on sound quality.

There are a number of drawbacks. Cost, color reproduction, and that pesky pixel.

Banding. If you create a gradient in Photoshop, it's not smooth like it would be on a CRT.

Ghosting on the 2000FP is quite reasonable, it's a 25 ms panel.

I haven't tried any games yet... I don't game much so I don't really care.

If you display a pure white screen with the contrast and brightness turned all the way up for a couple hours, it might get that pixel to unstick...

Well, it's going back to Dell.

Reasons?

1) Dead sub-pixel
2) Banding in gradients

A new one might take care of the sub-pixel, but the banding appears inherent to the model.

Oh well.

I'll sell it locally for exactly what I have into it, if anyone wants it.

It's too bad you're sending it back/selling it but if you're not 100% satisfied then you probably shouldn't keep it.

So far I have been more than 100% happy with my 1900FP and that $60 price adjustment credit recently hit my CitiBank cc so my total cost was around $620 with free shipping and $0 Oregon tax, me likey!
 
I just got my 2000FP set up. Unfortunately, I am having to use two patched together analog cables until I can get a long enough DVI cable.

I ran the tests and don't have any dead pixels, but I do see some ghosting. It's nothing I'm going to worry about, but I'll test it again when I get a digital cable.

I still need to read through the manual. There a lot of adjustments that can be made on this puppy.

I'm happy with it.

I've got a 17" NEC that I bought over the summer. I will not be giving this thing up.... Never going back to a CRT. But I have no dead pixels either.

Tried it. Not completely gone, but not as noticeable. The only time I see it is on a blue or black background. Other than that, it's not there.

It doesn't have an RMA number yet.

I woke up this morning to find that the previously dead pixel has corrected itself (at least it appears to have, I can't find it anymore).

Now it is perfect except for the banding issue... I guess I'll use it for a few days before I give up.

I might get a flat-panel if they fix these problems:

- The response time. Mainly a problem in games. Luckily this is about to be fixed

- The resolutions. Most panels do 1280x1024. Not enough for me. And the ones that do 1600x1200 cost an arm and a leg.

Fix those two, and I'll consider it.
