I have duron w/pins, A7V w/dips...is this enough to unlock multiplier?

If I have a duron 600 with all it's pins intact, and an Asus A7V motherboard with the dipswitches, do I still need to have the the L1 dots connected to unlock it? If so, is it all four of the L1 dots. I just don't want to toast my cpu, seeing how I am a student and poor. How poor? Well, do you have any food lying about that you don't need?
