Ok, after years of Internet I have become slightly/really fat. I am ~100 pounds over my ideal weight of 200 pounds, yes 300 pounds. No I do not look fat as fuck since I do have a large build already, about a 200 pound build. Pics will explain it better.

Anyway, so my plan is to ride my bike for at least an hour a day and work up from there, one hour should be plenty to start losing weight, especially when most of my problem is diet.
My diet is simply avoiding "snacks" and having small portions of food. My "snacks" used to be half a box of wheat thins etc. My meals used to include, two pieces of meat, plenty of vegetables, and large bowl of ice cream.

My problem really didn't involve "junk food" just lots of healthy food. So I plan on having about a handful of food, meaning really, about a handful size portion of each thing on the menu, and saving food for the next day, something unheard of before. I decided on a handful because that is about how much my mom would eat when she had a Gastric Bypass operation ~3 years ago, and I figure just her diet and no exercise made her lose ~140 pounds.

Yes, I think most of my weight problems is genetic since my father dealt with childhood obesity and my mom's side of the family has a lot of weight on their bones too. I also think it is lack of discipline on my part. I think part of it is my interest in computers.

Before we had high speed Internet, I used to ride my bike for hours at a time, yet I still had a diet problem. After the high speed Internet, 10/1 for those that want to know :p, I just sat at home playing BF1942 for hours at a time, only getting up to piss and eat/drink.

I decided on this because my dad said I would get an increase in "pussy", jobs, and overall health, I think those are pretty good reasons I thought to myself :p. I also decided after seeing fellow ATers losing weight and decided to try it too.

I also plan to make a workout log here, no not daily but if I see any significant changes I will post them. I have plenty of time to workout and lose weight since I have no job and just got out of high school and don't plan on going to college for about a year because of a lack of monies.

Wish me luck AT.

Cliffs:
Want to lose weight.
Losing weight to be healthy, seckzy, more job offers, and to get more "pussy".
Dieting by eating small portions.
Exercising by riding bike for an hour.
Going to post significant progress along the way.

Getting OFF the internet totally will do wonders for your weight. I'm not saying that in a mean way, it's true.

 Good decision. I think the BEST thing you can do to lose weight is count calories. You will notice the change, but it may take a year or more before you approach your goal weight. Don't give up buddy.

Yeah, but it is so addicting, but seriously after the Internet I think I really started to put on the pounds.

perhaps for variety, you could switch between biking and swimming. Swimming is more of a total body workout than biking and is better for your core. The thing is, you need to swim with intensity. Put yourself in the red and then keep going, that's how you're going to lose weight swimming. If you want to pursue it more, get a training partner. As with most things, it's boring and not very helpful if you don't have someone pushing you. This of course won't work if you don't know how to swim... but it's a suggestion.

I also want to lose weight. Not quite as much as you but my situation is somewhat similar. I am at 6'1 with a large frame and Would like to lose 30 to 40 pounds. I do exercise but I always find myself eating massive portions. Also, alcohol is a weakness of mine. I am not willing to give it up completely but I am working on reducing my intake.

I also eat massive portions, but I can afford to due to the amount of calories I burn when I'm swimming.

I am not much of a water animal :p Besides, biking is free, and you get to explore.

One good thing about me though is that I do not smoke nor drink, I guess I have substituted those for food...

Just had about the smallest bowl of cereal in my life, usually have about 2 huge bowls of cereal, now just half of a medium sized bowl.
The old mixing bowl for cereal is gone :(

You should document it with pics. It might motivate you to keep going. Maybe you could even become a millionaire like Jared by saying *insert product* helped me lose weight.

you need to incorporate weight training. you have like 100 pounds of fat to lose and the bike isn't going to do it all.

I feel like you would've benefited a lot from watching Shaq's Big Challenge. I think it ended this week.

I think I watched parts of the season finale but do not know how long it took them to lose the weight but some of their results were remarkable.

Jesus. 300 lbs. WTF. OMG. Wow.

I have to ask you this, what is your main motivator, besides the things your dad had said to you?

Gotta have a desire for this badly enough for it to happen, otherwise you're just going to balloon up into a bigger fatass than you are right now.

Notice I am trying to do this on a budget, as in free, as in I have no job, and really no access to very many machines. Biking will be sufficient to lose weight. Hell, the fattest person on earth started clapping her hands (sorry hocks :p) and lost the most weight in the world as of her appearance in Guinness.

Well people say I look ~250 or so, because I do have a large build already. My forearms which don't have much fat on them and they are ~11" around, so that gives you an idea of the muscle I have already. My thighs from holding the weight and from my years of biking before I got fat are huge, except the inner part of my thigh. My calves are very muscular. My biceps are pretty large and triceps are defined.

Motivation really is just getting skinnier and faster, I have dreams of just running/gliding effortlessly around a track, but when I would run those dreams immediately faded :p

Good for you. However, as fun as biking is, I'm not sure it's that "efficient" of a work out. I just got one (after 20 years, ya, wtf?), and take it out for a 1 hour spin every week. Luckily, there's a school with a track in my neighbourhood I use to go wild on. However, it takes about 2/3 laps of heavy riding to start getting tired. I'm completely out of shape so it takes about 100m of running to feel like I've done as much. Maybe try to work some running into your routine. Even running up and down your stairs works wonders. ~I'm not over-weight, but have no stamina and a beer belly I'm trying to lose.

I absolutely hate running, makes my feet tired (imagine that...), also biking is a low-impact exercise, and trust me enough hills will make me tired :p

I've been trying to lose some weight also over the past 2-3 monthes. my plan is easy, eating just one meal a day. and a bag of popcorn at night. I usually eat sometime between 1-3PM, then around 8-10 I eat a bag of popcorn. So far I've went from 225 down to under 210. I'm looking at try to get down to 185. The only issue with this I could see is that it may screw with my metabolism.

You would do your body much better by eating a small breakfast and not eating the popcorn so late at night. It is obviously working for you but you are right that it will not do your metabolism very good. Breakfast gets your body going in the morning. Even an apple or a banana with a handful of some healthy cereal would be better than nothing and wouldn't be adding a bunch of calories. You would also be better off eating some vegetables like carrots, snap peas, etc at night instead of popcorn. the popcorn is empty calories with no nutrition. the fiber and vitamins in the vegetables would be better for you and taste good too.

Try Fitday FTW!! I now enter as much as I eat. It helps me manage calaries (I can see what is bad/good) and helps me maintaine discipline as its hard to slip if I see myself going over. You can also log your biking time on it and gauge approx how many calories the you burn while biking.

For myself, I'm currently biking from home/work and back twice a week (~45 miles, or 3 hours). That's a work out, now!

Good luck, OP
