[/b]Bush Considers Seeking Court Order

George W. Bush (news - web sites) gave a top adviser authority Friday night
to seek a court order stopping Al Gore (news - web sites)'s campaign from
securing manual recounts of contested ballots in Florida, as both sides of an
improbably deadlocked presidential election looked to the judicial branch for
help in the make-or-break state.

The rest of the story.

[/b]The TWO PARTY SYSTEM IS SUCK!!!

[/b] Republicans Seek Wisc. Probe

MILWAUKEE (AP) - A Wisconsin district attorney was looking into
allegations made by the state GOP officials about what Republicans called
questionable polling procedures on Election Day.

Complaints included voters receiving two ballots or being told they had
already voted, said state Republican Party (news - web sites) Chairman
Richard Graber.

The GOP has received about 800 complaints from around the state, including
600 from Milwaukee County, he said.

``We believe very seriously that the integrity of our election process is at
stake,'' Graber said.

Republican George W. Bush (news - web sites) lost Wisconsin to Democrat
Al Gore (news - web sites) by 6,099 votes. More than 2.5 million votes
were cast in Wisconsin.

Yep, damn Gore and those sue-happy DEMOcrats.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! sheep.

Pennstate,

Last time I checked it was not hypocritical to defend ones self. I suppose if somebody popped you in the jaw, you'd just look at them and say "thank you, may I have another".

If Bore wasn't trying everything he can in a last ditch attempt at a power grab, then President-Elect Bush would not be forced in to responding to prevent the sleaze from trying to hijack the election.

I'd just like to see all the ballots counted correctly.

Now it seems that Bush wants to stop this....

ride525,

The ballots have already been counted "correctly": FOUR TIMES. The only reason Bore is demanding a hand count is his hope that somehow the outcome will change. It won't, and he knows it. He's desperate, and he'll try every tactic.

As the recounts, and recounts of the recounts, and the hand recounts of the recounts of the recounts keep going on, the less accurate the numbers are. Its a FACT that the numbers will ALWAYS change.

This election is not comparable to prior elections. This year, small details are important, and if it takes recounts to work things out, then I say "Fine". There is no impending doom whereby we must acknowledge the almight c-a-n-d-i-d-a-t-e Bush as President Elect ASAP. If you just can't wait for things to work out, tough.

Here in Australia all votes are counted by hand, with both a Labour & conservative scrutineer hanging over each counters shoulder, just to avoid these sorts of problems.

Useally they can work out who's won the election that night, although not officially to the next day.

Russ,

If they were counted correctly.. how come both candidates keep getting more votes with each re-count?

DABANSHEE...So you are saying there is no vote fraud in Australia? OK...;)

When you are in a fight and your opponent steps into the mud, both are going to get dirty!

There isn't any hypocracy involved.

Oh sure, when Al Gore tries to make things fair and have every vote count (as opposed to some) for something, he is a whiner and a stupid liberal.

When Bush does it, he is defending himself.

WTF?!?!?

Some serious Republican hypocrisy here! :|

zippy,

can you explain why Bore needed a public relations firm to call up registered democrats in Palm Beach to explain how their vote was not fair ? The afternoon of the election ?

Yea not to mention Gores team of 75 lawyers ... Look Gore is going to do everything in his power to keep from losing ... If Bush just sits there Gore is gonna make his life miserable .. this is not the time for turning the other cheek ... Gore is gonna try to railroad Bush if he can ... and I'm proud of Bush for not letting him walk over him. Gore if he was a real man would wait to see how the absentee votes go before he starts this whole hand recount crap. But see he isn't even waiting for that. That proves that his whole thing of going with the peoples' decision and all is crap .. If he really cared about this country he wouldnt be encouraging all these people to sue...

Also keep in mind that there is a limited window in which to challenge election irregularities. If the Republicans allow Wisconsin, Iowa and Missouri to fall by the wayside while Florida's 800 recounts finally "find" (i.e., fill out during the hand recount) enough ballots to shift it to Gore, then they will lose the chance to challenge the results elsewhere.

<< I'd just like to see all the ballots counted correctly. >>

Who is to say that they haven't been counted correctly both times? I remember hearing that they actually double checked the results on the recount so the votes have been counted THREE times at least. How many times is enough for it to be considered "correct"? The manual recount not only introduces a monstrous opportunity for human error but also fraud and is not done anywhere else, to my knowledge.

Bore lost (in New Mexico, too). That's it. Most prominent Democrats are calling on Bore to back off the court challeneges, including Gephardt and Bradley.

The Bush side has called several times for Gore to throw in the towel even before the overseas ballots are count. Now the Bush side is trying to stop the accurate hand count process of those areas that have the stupid
punch-hole ballots.

Bush wants Gore to get out even BEFORE the votes are counted. Give me a break-- every vote counts, so let us count them. WHat is the big rush, we have time.

Let us all wait until the votes are all clearly accounted for in the state of Florida.

For anyone watching MSNBC the FL Supervisor of Elections Atty and the election official for Bush's own county in TX just shot down every one of James Baker's objections about accuracy in a manual recount.
