I have been diagnosed...

with high-functioning autism. I dont know much about it, but since my diagnosis (a couple weeks ago) I have gotten in a few fights (verbal, not physical)) with a few of my good friends. I am really not liking it. A lot of simple things are hard in my life. I am seeing a psychologist in a week from tomorrow (Wednesday).

Edit: This is very similar to the more popular Asperger's Syndrome. Its very common. Our "friend" Bill Gates has it.

I was recently diagnosed with a degenerative cornea condition, effectively I'm marching towards useless vision & didn't have a clue until a few months ago.

While it is somewhat alarming to suddenly realize that there is "something wrong with you," it's also somewhat exhilirating to have an explanation for things which were previously attributed to recklessness or ineptitude (in my case). Now I know exactly what the problem is, & I know what needs to be done to avoid/fix/cope with it.

Hopefully the same will be true for you.

Is that degenerative cornea condition related to high nearsightedness. Last time I had my eye exam, the doc said that high nearsightedness increases risk of cornea detachment, and to have my cornea examined on regular basis.

doctor told me the exact same thing about 8 years ago. I haven't had my eyes examined in about 2.5 years though.

about 1.5 million people in the us have autism i think. that's like 1/200. so it's not that bad. remember however bad you have it, someone else has it worse.

Ok then the difference between Autism and Asperger Syndrome

1. the child with Asperger's Syndrome is not so disturbed;
2. the child is very intelligent;
3. he or she is endowed with special abilities;
4. the child first shows symptoms in the third year and;
5. the child develops highly grammatical speech very early.

~basically it sounds like a minor psychological problem, and isn't really a degenerative disease or anything like that. I'm pretty sure with a lil medical help, you sould be ok

I have an almost 16 yr old son who is a high functioning Autistic person,it would not be better if he were dead, the world is made a brighter much more interesting place because of him and I'm sure the same applies to you.
