Mine does, yours doesn't?
It wasn't totally bad that I was applying for a new cc. They were offering 0% APR on balance transfers for 12 months. I was going to max it out, make 12 even payments then close the cc after the 12 month period.
Oh well.
This is a pretty big hit on your credit rating. Numerous new accounts in a short period of time is an indication to lenders that you cannot manage your finances well. As a result, you'll be considered a bad credit risk. You might get credit cards with no problem, but expect to have a hard time getting the best rate on home & car loans.Originally posted by: Viper GTS

I just got yet another new card. Went from $5,000 in credit to $12,000 in just a few short months.
$6200 MC
$3000 Visa
$2000 Visa
$800 BB Card
Woohoo, 0% interest for all my debt!
I went to get a new checking/savings account since my old bank is severely out of my way now, & US Bank pre-approved me for a CC. Figured I might as well, & it came back at $2K.

Huh? Rephrase? "Does" threw me off. Did you mean to ask: "If I share a credit card with one of my parents, what happens with my credit?"
Uhmmm . . . it isn't always a wise idea to share a credit card with your parent. However, if your parent is trying to help you build your credit, then it does help. You have to stand on your own soon, though. Try to break the tie as soon as possible.
Speaking of credits, I have approximately four credit cards. I would have had five, but one got closed down (Nextcard). I have MBNA MC, AMEX, AMEX, and Wachovia VISA. Discover Card keeps bugging me, as well as GMC MasterCard, but I haven't yet given in. I would probably settle for GMC so I can get 5% reward good toward the purchase of a GMC vehicle (with a limit of course). And yes, I've stayed away from debts. I give the thanks to MBNA for starting the poor student with a $1500 offer and moving it up . . . now it's pretty high. I was already in trouble with some hospital emergency bill. I thought I was doomed with the credit world, but there I was getting the offer from MBNA . . . first offer ever. I didn't even have a job. And then NextCard, AMEX and Wachovia followed.
Rossman, I must ask you this: Is it some satisfactory feeling to always have a testimony of how you have spent lavishly? It just seems to me that you enjoy sharing stories of how you spent lavishly. I'm not about to encourage you to wallow in pity, but I do hope that you realise what your actions mean.

Fixed my post and removed does, sorry about that.
I'm 19 and I've been a secondary user on the card for about months.
Ok, pretend, if you don't mind, that I am a total idiot.
What is credit?
What is it good for?
How will being a secondary user of a CC affect it?
My mom and I share credit card. Lets just say its limit is above the $10K level. If we keep it paid off, will my credit rise?

Actually many dealers do give out free crack in the attempt to get someone addicted.
As for the credit card thing, if that happens very often I would be afraid.
