I recieved a Xbox the X-mas of the year it came out! I absolutly love it, but I'm debating getting another system.
Should I build my Xbox game library or should i BUILD MY CONSOLE LIBRARY. The only system I own is an Xbox with the following games.
Halo
Indiana Jones & the Emperors Tomb
Project Gothem
Madden 2002
Nascar 2002
Shrek

If I were to get another system, which should I buy! I'm having a hrd time here.

PS For some info, I'm a 15 year old kid with limited income.

Go to xbox-scene.com, if you do a little research you can figure out how to do it yourself. Just go to the tutorials and that should get you started. Only took me about 5 minutes to install my chip, just flashed it and poped it in.

Are you kidding? I solder my chip with out a problem and I am 16. Just make sure you practice before you do it on the xbox.

Aren't they the same?

Any ways I'd say just build up your game library, you could mod it like they say, but if you screw up something modding it, which is entirely possible & just too risky, especially if your a 15 year old with limited funds, then your out a perfectly good Xbox. If you can get another Xbox then I'd say mod teh old one, in this scenario you'd have 2 Xbox's you can link up for LAN play with a friend & if you did mod the old one & FUBAR it, you still have one other. But for now your better off just building your game library, unless you want to mod the Xbox to use it for other things, Like run a Linux OS on it, or use it for a PVR or something.

Spelling, something a 12 year old should learn.

If you still want to get another console you have to consider some things, mostly what kind of games you like to play.

If you're a fan of RPGs and/or scary/gory/violent games you may want to get a PS2. It has noteable RPGs like Xenosaga and the entire Final Fantasy series. As far as "thriller" games go you get the Silent Hill series, the Fatal Frame series, etc. You also have the new Castlevania game, Devil May Cry, Soul Reaver 2... Not to mention the fact that you can play PS1 games on it as well. (loads of good RPGs, and the first Silent Hill)

If you're into more family-friendly yet incredibly fun games you'll probably like GameCube. The Sonic series (Adventure, Adventure 2, Mega Collection, Battle) Super Smash Bros. Melee, Super Mario Sunshine, Double Dash, Metroid Prime, etc. You also have some good RPGs, like Crystal Chronicles, and one of the best thriller games I've ever played, Eternal Darkness. (not to mention the Resident Evil games) GameCube is also really cheap.

If I had to choose I would probably go with PS2, but only because I absolutely live for the Silent Hill and Fatal Frame games. (Far scarier than any other games I've ever played, except for SH2 which was crap) If you can live without those games though definitely get the GameCube.

P.S. Oh yeah, get your XBox modded. It's really worth it, especially if you swap out the hard drive for a bigger one and store games on it. A lot of work though.

A modded xbox can:

Backup games ( so you dont have to carry around your game disks, but you would need to upgrade the hard drive)
Stream MP3s from a computer*
Stream Movies from a computer*
Stream Pictures from a computer*
Stream Shoutcast Internet Radio
Play movies without dvd playback kit
Play emulators on the xbox
and tons of other stuff......I know I am missing some.

BUT You must not log on to xbox live with a mod chip on (most come with a on/off chip). You will be put on a black list and that xbox will never be able to go on xbox live again.

A modded xbox is pretty much the ultimate entertainment center IMO.

*If you dont want to stream, you can always throw them on the hard drive in the xbox (again you would need to upgrade it; the one in the xbox is only 8 gigs)

Not something that someone who doesn't even know the word solder should pretend to be qualified to give advice on.

Yeah, almost forgot to mention that. If you don't plan on going online you're free to mod as you wish, but if you do you really need to spend the extra dough for one with an on/off switch. You also may run into problems with XBox Live if you run a linux-based OS on your XBox.

You can get online with it and play games (I think with XBox Live users even) by going through a computer and using an app, but I don't have much information on it. Someone here can probably furnish you with a link to it though.

Other Than voiding the Warranty? Ummmmm, a lot actually! You can install a different OS Like a Linux Distributin for the Xbox, You can access every feature of it & turn it into a PC, use it as a PVR, (personal Video Recorder), like TIVO, you can mod it with out using a chip, modding it simply means to modify it from its original state, like adding a new bigger faster HD, updating the archaic optical drive in it, etc. you can even use a portable USB storage device like a Thumbdrive or Jumpdrive instead of those rediculously over priced mem cards to store your game saves & stuff. Though with most of these mods you do have to know what you are doing. I have heard of or seen most of these mods being done, but I'm sure theres even more simpler benign one out there too.
