I currently own a Samsung Series 7 Gamer, and I've owned a lot of laptops, and this one is probably the best I've owned. The layout, ergonomics, display, etc - it is all perfect for me. The display on this laptop is a 400 nit full HD 1080p 17" display and it is probably the best display I have ever seen on a laptop in my entire life. It looks better than my TV...
Even the on-board audio sounds great. However, I have an opportunity to upgrade for free at work - because my current laptop is 2 years old. My upgrade opportunity is to upgrade to an Asus ROG G750JH - which is no slouch.
The Samsung NP700G7C:
Intel core_i7 Processor 2.3GHz 3610QM
16 GB RAM
1.5TB Hard Drive
17.3-Inch Screen, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675M 2048memory
Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit)
2x 750Gig 7200 rpm Hard Drives (non-raid) with an 80gig SSD to speed bootup
16 GB SO-DIMM RAM
I have an opportunity to upgrade to an Asus ROG G750JH-DB71
Intel Core i7-4700HQ 2.4GHz (Turbo 3.4GHz) Haswell
24 GB DDR3; HD Version
128GB SSD * 2 + 1TB 5400 RPM HDD
17.3-Inch Screen, Nvidia GTX780M 4GB GDDR5
Windows 8, 3.5-hour battery life
My last Asus product was a TF300 transformer tablet and it wasn't built very well and only lasted like 6 months. Are the Asus laptops good to go?
Am I going to regret leaving the Samsung display behind? Is it even worthwhile to upgrade from an I7 3610QM to a 4700HQ and from a GTX 675m to a 780m?
