Is there anything there? I'm coming from Michigan and i'd be going there for work for about a month. Supposedly, it's a college town or something loaded with girls (or so my district manager said :p) I have to know by tomorrow afternoon.

Peoria has Bradely University that is a private school with an enrollment of 6,100 according to their website. There may be other colleges in Peoria also. It's a cool town with some river (Peoria or Illinois, can't remember) splitting it down the middle. If you go for it, we will have to have a lan party because me and LyNx01 don't live too far away from Peoria.

I think Peoria is also the town where the creator of the World Church (or something like that) lives. His name is Matt or something...

EDIT: Matt Hale, World Church of the Creator, a white supremascist group

I've been to Peoria for a volleyball tournament that my sister was in. I'm from the Northwestern suburbs of chicago mind you but I thought it was Hickville, USA.

We went out into the town and EVERY person I met had an accent. I guess it depends on what you're used to be it was an awakening to me. I didn't think it was that bad until you went about 3 hours south of chicago or so. *shrug* Take it all with a grain of salt...

I've said this before, but I guess it bears repeating:

I worked in Peoria and owned stores there for a number of years. The ONLY time I heard that name or the name of his org was when one of his lackys went on a shooting spree in other cities. He's an impotant little man who everyone ignores.

Peoria isn't a bad town. Plus, they have a casino boat there :)

That's true :) I couldn't enjoy the casino boat though because I'm not quite of age yet :(

In regards to the accent, it just sounds like a southern/hick accent. Not to be rude to Southerners because it's different from a regular southern accent. Southern accent is good. Hillbilly accent is bad. Then again, I've been told I have a Chicago accent when I go to places like Florida/Georgia and I don't think that I have any accent at all. Like I said, take it with a grain of salt. I guess it's all relative :)

Ooh ooh! I lived about 15 minutes away from Peoria for 18 years of my life. :)

It's about 120k people. Nothing really exciting to do. Highest murder per capita rate in the state. Even higher than Chicago! Woohoo! There's a "north end" and a "south end". I suggest NOT going to the south end after dark.

Two major streets - University and HW150/War Memorial Road. Pretty much anything you'll want to do will be within a 5 minute drive of the road.

One college as mentioned - Bradley. Bunch of stuck up rich turds from Chicago for the most part.

Got Illinois State in Bloomington about 30 minutes of east of Peoria though.

Uhhhhh, anything else you really want to know?

A Chicago accent is much like the rest of the northern Midwestern/Minnesota accent. It's got a hint of Norwegian in it. The main difference is the Chicago accent cuts words shorter than Minnesota
