I have an 'old' netgear 802.11b router..I need a new one...MIMO or no?

Hey -

Right now I have a 802.11b netgear wireless router...
It's range isn't that great...and the technology is obviously outdated..

I basically want to know if I should pick up a MIMO router (The new tech that doesn't allow for repeaters but has good throughoput vs range) or the Regular G routers...that allow for repeaters but lack the throughput when range increases..

It's my understanding that when range increases with a repeater, that the data will only be half as much with double the range..

But the original range will have more speed.

Basically - I want to be able to have a router that can reach a lot of places in my house (two story). Right now it has trouble reaching over a few walls..

I want to have wired connections for the computers close...but the desktops far away are going to need wireless...

Is MIMO technology (The SRX Linksys router thing) a better idea then buying a wirless router and an access point..and using teh access point as a repeater?

The access point won't have wired 100/10 connections right...- therefore I'll still need the router right?
I'm on cable internet.

Thanks..
