Granted its not exactly doable but it could possibly spark a real idea or two.

You know how your local best Buy, Circuit City, CompUSA, and all those other stores have several shelves of computers? What if TA assimilated those? Granted blocks would have to be sneakered to it all the time but if we assimilated all those chains worldwide we would difinatly put the smack down on the DPC's. Anyone think the store managers would allow us to do this?

it is a good idea, I dont know anything about the stores you mentioned but most chains I have seen the local stores are not allowed to touch the PCs, they come with a 'store' demo but it cant hurt to ask.

another good source is 'local' offices there a hundreds of small business in every city that have local LANs with with a half dozen up to many PCs

ask small business to run client, explaining the benefits to them and offer to give them a free web page praising their participation and giving them web exposure... this was the main theme of Team EvangeLista's rise to power before Apple dropped them

Don't be quick to dismiss the ideas of the young/new....

That is a terrific suggestion. Be prepared to answer all questions FIRST however. You will be far more credible forearmed! ... assimilate on. :)

I tried long ago to asslaminate all department stores in my area with a nice explaination letter. They all have 4-10 comps running all day.

Half said they had 3D demos looping, which is more eye-catching and impressive for potential buyers than nonsense % figures (even though most call an ugly openGL .scr a demo) ; the others said their demo comps never stayed in store more than a few days, so I coulnt sneaker them on time.

Well I tried.

Dan,

Sarcasm is, unfortunatly, not conveyed through a forum very well. I don't think I have taken offense to anything you have said as I tend to find you quite humorous.

LeBlatt,

Do those really use that much cpu that it would take away from the client?

sure, 3D or animated pics screensavers are death. on a PII-400, NT4sp5 with ati rage pro agp, the 3D floating clock with cycling colors eats over 90% cpu.

If you're running an office herd, enforce all users to have "blank screen" .scr, or at most something that displays fixed pics, with a low frequency, like 60s.
webshots has something like that for free. It defaults to animated pics, so disable it.

Wow I didn't think those crappy screensavers used so much cpu.

Im going to miss that box one every time I come back from doing something, but Im going to welcome the blocks Im going to be cracking instead.

thanks
