Okay-

here's the deal-
I have a message in my inbox that I have not opened.

the message is from hahaha and the subject is "snow white and the seven dwarfs- the real story"

this is obviously a virus.

I don't want to just right click and delete, cause it will open the message.

how do I get rid of it w/out opening it?

I run Windows XP.

any help appreciated.

I'm assuming you're using Outlook (or Outlook Express). Did you try disabling the preview pane and then deleting it? If you disable the preview pane, the message won't open until you double click it.

Close the preview pane in outlook express, right click, delete.

I think this virus contains an attachment (an exe ) so just clicking on the messege won't run it (unless there's some bizzare option in outlook that runs all attachments when a messege is viewed). If it was one of the script viruses that runs upon viewing the messege, Outlook Express 6.0 (which is included in XP) should have all nessecary bug fixes to stop it. OE 6 also has a little alert box that pops up if something tries to send an email without you actually clicking "compose messege"

double click the attachment - it'll go away from there :)
