I have a tough choice to make!

I really like the 2001 1.8T's and I am wondering which I should choose!

I can get a 2001 Jetta GLS 1.8T
51k miles, also has sports suspension - checked VIN and it has 6 registered title xfers

or a 2001 Jetta GLS 1.8T wolfsburg edition
82k miles, sunroof, heated seats, sports suspension - checked VIN and it has 14 registered title xfers

They both have :

black, tinted windows, bbs alloy wheels (love these rims), PW, AC, PL, FOBs, etc

I listed the only differenecs between the two cars...I dont know if the miles are worth it, but the heated seats and sunroof are well worth it! Or is the mileage worth it more then the heated seats and sunroof? Im also not sure if the wolfsburg adds anything more then just sports suspension and the hand knitted stick shift. Prices are 8.5k.

Considering VW's reliability, do the one with the lower milage. I wouldn't get either though because they're both VW and they're used.

Personally I'd go for the one with the sunroof. Of course you'll want to get them both checked out by your mechanic. If they're both sound eh...although you could try to bargain the wolfsburg down a few hundred more.

I love VW's man....

so losing the extra features and the wolfsburg title isnt that big of a deal?

anyone with a VW Jetta 1.8T have any opinions?

Let me mention I have a GLS 2.0L with 96k miles right now 1999.5 ... is the 1.8T a little quicker then my 2.0L ?

of course not. two different drivers, states, both are not one owners, etc.
plus, the difference in 30k mileage means anything could happen in between the two behicles!

both are sound tight engine wise. no electrical problems either.

I like VW's too, but their reliability is horrible.

Not trying to be rude just my opinion.

I know, but I cant find anything as good, for this sort of price....I hate these domestic cars, ugly to me.... hondas are overpriced, toyotas are a bore...im picky.

I would baby this car once I got it, have the mech's check it out, get everythign replaced, timing belts, hoses, change all bulbs, etc just to be sure this thing is gooood.

I'm just saying...my number one factor when looking for used cars is what the owners are like and if there are maintenance records.

You're going to find a lot of VW-haters on this board.

My suggestion is to go to vwvortex.com and post your question there.

I'd go with the lower mileage vehicle myself, but then again, I have a 01 VW Wolfie...

I never had a car with heated seats until this last winter... and when it's -30F, they are really nice to have.

8.5k both local private sellers.

I can probably talk em to 8.2k if not 8k....
im beating myself up here! i dont know if the mileage is worth it or not. as goes for any car...if it hits 100k+ its value is gone 1,000 if not more. but I do plan on keeping this car until I graduate college and have a steady job for 1-2 years. The MPG is great and I love the looks of these vehicles.

I'd get a BMW...but thatd be crazy 😀

oh , i know exactly what you mean. When I ran a VIN check the one with 82k miles had 6 registers and the one with 50k had 14.

hows is that wolfsburg?! Is it better then the 1999.5 2.0L's ? and if you have the wolfie...is it worth it, or would you do the same in my situation? go for the lower miles and say good bye to the sports suspension and heated seats/sunroof?

While not as plush on the inside, WRX's are going to be a good deal faster than that tub and reliable as hell as long as you take care of it.

friend of mine owns a WRX. not sure the year or anything under the hood...but I hate the cheap-@ss feel to them. I also hated the hood scoop he has on it :S. they are also much more expensive then 8.5k 😀

Maybe I should sell you my mint 2004 1.8 with 33k miles and every option 🙂 I do really like mine. Zaino makes the black look great. Just kidding about selling unless I am still unemployed in a month.

14 title transfers???
what the hell.....

does that maybe say something?

I wouldn't buy one myself... I like cars that work most of the time.

I'd stay very very far away from both of them.

That's what I was thinking. 14 titlle transfers in 5-6 years is insanity. That car changed hands every 5 months on average! The other at 6 is high too. That says something about those cars, or maybe about people who buy VWs 😉
