i have a swollen knee

spanky

Lifer
i woke up today and my knee felt a little stiff. i did not realized that it was swollen til later that day, when i thought it would loosen up, but didn't. what could have caused it? it's not bruised or anything... just slightly fatter looking (and a bit puffy-er then the other knee). i played basketball all weekend, but did not fall on it or twist it. could excessive exercise cause a stiff and slightly swollen knee?

If you haven't been active for awhile and then do a lot of exercise this could happen, have you ever had any serious injuries to your knee? My knee gets swollen every now and then if I do to much.

it happens to me every now and then especially if I exercise after being on my butt for a while. I get it after I run on trails and grass fields. Ice it up and it should go away. If not, go get it checked out.

you may have a small case of tendonitus. i play volleyball and i get that all teh time. that is when the tendon on connected inside your knee gets swollen. hearts like hell. the only way to heal it is to quit puttin intensive pressure on your knees, like playing sports. i was benched half the season last yr for vollyeball when i had that. it suxed.

Try streching before playing sports next time.

how do i stretch my knee? i did my calves, quads, & hammies... not sure how i would do my knees.

you are supposed to gently fall, not just drop. much more seductive, not to mention painless.

edit: in all seriousness, check for bites. happened to a friend of mine, and it turned out he had a brown recluse bite that almost caused amputation.
