I have a stupid idea...

I was thinking about buying a bike, and possibly biking to work.
One way it's 8 miles, which isn't so bad. The only problem is the city I live in isn't very biker friendly. Sidewalks are scarce, but there are some here. I've seen people do it before, but it seems dangerous.
Anyone else bike to work?

I don't but people in china and india do.

I hate most bikers.

While it's great that some of them are trying to minimize their pollution output, 90% of them don't know how to be considerate about drivers. Drivers have to go around them and start going into the nlane next to them to get around them... or there's the ones who try to drive right in traffic and slow everyone down to 20 or 30 km/h.

i don't think it is a stupid idea, dangerous probably, but not stupid per se

do you have any dependents? if not, go for it. otherwise get some more life insurance first

I "motorcycle" to work...... when the weather permits 🙂

Bah!!!

'fair weather' riders cannot call themselves 'bikers'!!

I rode to London yesterday (set off at 5:00am in -2 degrees, it took 2hrs).

It was just an idea. I have a car, but I like the idea of biking it. It saves money, in the long run, and helps the environment. Plus the exercise is also welcome.

You could just get yourself an old motorcycle and ride it on days when weather permits. You'll get vastly improved gas mileage versus your car, and I suppose probably less emissions as well.
