I have a strange interest in learning about scams

I don't know why, but I find scams, frauds and various shady stuff kind of interesting.

The most recent one I've learned about is counterfeiting money, this was in I think maxim. Apparently, a moderately effective way to counterfeit money is to bleach singles and then print on it so that it's, say a 20.

they occasionally have shows about counterfeiting or scams on history channel/tlc/discovery channel.

I had an acquaintance in high school who would empty out stolen ATM cards. He'd get people's wallets/purses and then he'd call the victim saying,

"Hi, I'm a bastard from your bastardly bank. It appears your ATM card was stolen, I will need your PIN to stop your account."

Most of the time, the victim would just hand over the number and the guy would put on a mask+gloves and then proceed to milk the account for everything it was worth.

 

Right now in Vegas, there is a group passing acid washed 5$ printed as 100$ at the tables. I don?t think SS has caught them yet.

The thing is, washed bills are still fairly easy to identify. Larger bills have the value printed on the embedded security strip.

They can be hard to spot in low light conditions like in a Casino. They also pass the Cummings security detection that 99% of the count rooms use in the industry. They are easy to spot on there own but can be difficult when processing allot of cash like Major casinos do. Anyways they still have not been caught. We are still finding three to five bills a day in our table drop.
