As the title says.. I need help with my Z77 Sabertooth Motherboard.

I have recently put together a nice rig with 1 problem and 1 problem only. My Mobo Sabertooth Z77 here is not functioning properly.

When doing bandwidth tests on my new rig I run into a problem where my Download and upload speeds are not what they should be. In fact with a computer sitting right next to this rig that is 2 1/2 years old running a Gigabyte x58 series board. The Sabertooth Z77 runs at 2/3rds the Download speed and 1/4 of the upload speed as my older computer.

Here is the break down:

Same exact internet connection, verified by my ISP to be running perfectly after I had them come out and check on it. Same Router used by both computers (Wired on both accounts) When doing individual tests with just the modem on either desktop I am still seeing the exact same down load numbers.

Gigabyte x58 = 32.6mbps down (Average) 4mbps upload (Average)
Sabertooth z77 = 22mbps down (Average) .75mbps upload (Average)

These numbers are over roughly 50 tests using different hardware setups and test runs over the exact same router / modem. The test location where these numbers are retrieved are here locally in my city as a control point.

I have updated all my drivers, from Intel which is the LAN Controller for this z77 board. ( Intel 82579V1x Gigabit LAN Controller ) As the Asus techs have given me information on. However my update from Intel's website yielded a slightly different model in a 82579V (No 1x as a suffix).

So to my questions;

Does anyone have any solid ideas on what I am to do with this problem? This is my second z77 Sabertooth board. I RMA'd the first one exactly for the reason of Asus saying that I had a bad board and that all my problem was related to that. I just got the next one. With again no problems other then this EXACT same issue of internet bandwidth slack. The performance is noticeable and it would definitely make me want to slap around puppies having to use this level of performance on a regular basis with this level of Desktop.

Thoughts?? Things I can try?? Other people noticing the same exact thing?? Haaaalp??

System:
OcZ Vertex 4 x2 Raid0 Setup
2500k Sandy i5
32gig Gskill 1600
7970 Sapphire GPU
Yada Yada!

Multiple cords same router and Modem with same results. I have attempted all reasonable options. I am or what I believe I am searching for is an option change to un-choke my Mobo or something to allow for me bandwidth.

More Replies please... I will be home after work. With nothing but this on my mind this evening.

PS. Avengers was pretty awesome earlier today :D

Thanks

Easy fix...Get a dedicated network card, since the onboard has issues. Sucks that a new Mobo has this issue.

New Network card to accompany a $234 Motherboard with one already on board?? That just sucks..

Anyone with a Sabertooth z77 running into the same problem? Feedback from the Tech people is no one is reporting a problem but the Mobo is so new to the market, perhaps no one has tried to make this comparison.

Ps More Thoughts towards my original post? Perhaps something more to the point of fixing what I have rather then adding new items to an already existing problem?

Had similar problems I think. Removed all WLAN and LAN drivers from scratch. Rebooted. Installed only the required drivers again. Any drivers from a previous board are the worst problems you can bring on yourself

More troubles with Asus but this one isn;t critical for me, but I must say threads everyw here about RMAs and RAM DIMMs with Video troubles, USB in the dumps.
This is a great froum as my Newegg cart will definately be changed to another manufacturer.
Perhaps the stable boring Intels are best at QC.

Hey Asus, I really wanted to try you.
This is the 3rd thread in just this forum where I find I saved myself some headaches and cash.

Try a little QC, Intel has a handbook...

Did u mess with its setting in the first place?

I saw that u could mess with this and that of the network stack. But left all at default.

It's working no problems at 50mb. When the ISP isnt throttle it that is?

So did u mess with it?

dgasca,

I have the EXACT same issue with my Sabertooth Z77. Download speeds are normally 40 meg down, 4 meg up. My results with this MB are almost identical to yours - 2/3 download speeds and 1/8 to 1/4 of the upload speeds. Unacceptable performance! BIOS and lan drivers are the most current as published by Asus.

I have downloaded the most current PROWinx64 drivers from the Intel site per the suggestion on another post - hopefully that will solve the issue.

I did order a a separate Intel LAN controller card from Newegg - waiting on that to arrive.

This issue has been solved for quite a few people by disabling the Network iControl like what was suggested above by MacGyverSG1.

Did you install and have running Network iControl? That could be the problem.

^^^^This...Disable it and everything should be back to normal. Asus actually has an update available on their website for Network iControl to fix this issue. Cannot comment on the update though as I just disabled it and did not bother update.

Didn't know they released an update to fix it, I may have to try it out, then again things are working fine with it disabled. Thanks for the info though. Now if they could just fix some of the bugs in Ai Suite that would be great.
