Does all the anti USA talk here in off topic by people from europe get you mad? I get steamed when when people will sit here and talk bad about the USA. Do they forget how much American blood was spilled on European soil? That we went to fight for them twice? Everybody has a right to their opinion, but they must remember that not for the US, they would not have the right to voice their opinion.

I think they are very misguided. The problem is the jingoistic americans bring out the worst in the upset europeans.

America isn't perfect but its our home and i am happy and thankful for all the freedoms that we enjoy as citizens.

The wonderful thing about this is they are using the right of free speech to spew their nonsense. A right our Founding Fathers secured, and that Europe adopted much later (and many European countries still impose limits on political speech).

You have to be very dense or very young, right?

I will not "talk bad about the USA" I have lived in the states half of my life, i just think their foreign policy is all about making a buck... and the rest of the world will not comply, so nuke them...

Actually, the sad part is, if this was just a joke amongst the Americans in this forum, it would be funny, but G.W means it...

nah.. they just don't know any better... they hear their friends, neighbors, family doing it.. so they mindlessly repeat what they hear.

Where would they be without the US?

Under German rule....

Or shall we remind france about that? ;)

I simply laugh if I don't agree with them!:) They have a right to their opinion just as I do...................if we don't agree, I'll state my side and they will theirs but I don't get upset with them because it's really pointless and chances are if not seperated by governments, we may well be friends!;)

What was incorrect in my post? (beside using "you" where I meant to use "to.")

People here aren't all that bad about it. You want to read some really anti-american stuff go to the soap box over at arstechnica. If the stuff you read here makes you mad the stuff over there will probably make your head explode.

Honestly...I feel a lot of Americans are naive concerning global issues unless it's broadcast on television. It's kinda sad, but I notice it even in myself. And it's bad to say, but I try to keep outside of politics if i can. And I try not to speak for too many people, but Americans are really the only people too wrapped up in their own lives to care. And I think the security of America has brought them to that point.

As far asEuropeans, or even people from other countries, and what they have to say. Americans will probably take offense to anti-american propiganda, especially in light of 9/11. I just think a majority of the crap/bickering that goes on is just ignorance on all parts. (and i don't claim to know it all either, cause i don't.)

I probably didn't make sense, so make of it what you will. I'm tired...

Edit: Also...please don't label me "Another American content in his ignorance." This isn't the case. I'm proud of my country and am a voting citizen. But, nothing is perfect, and some of the decisions that my government makes aren't always ones that i agree with.

Anyone, who can try to sum up something as complex as US foreign policy that simply is either a TOTAL moron or just too young.

If that was the case you would be goose-stepping everywhere you go.

I have to agree with snapIT that the main thing that irritates the world is the US's extreme interest in "US interests" before everything else. The US is not trying very hard to get peace in the Middle East. That wouldn't be a "US interest". In fact, they prefer occupying Iraq because it's by far the greatest petroleum ressource in the world. I was very surprised in fact with Bush's declaration yesterday, and very relieved too.

Also, the average american does not seem to know much about anything besides the USA. Combine that with extreme patriotism and it doesn't make for very good relationships with other nations. I saw a post in another thread that said if Bush's government was popular in the world, it would mean the US had become weak and feable. That's nonsense, and it doesn't help the american image.

Lastly, september 11 is indeed an extremely sad date. As you all know it is the day of the WTC tragedy. But as you may not know, it is also the day the CIA orchestrated the death of the chilean president (who was putting the country back on track, which endangered US interests), and put the general Pinochet to power, sending the country to endless years of dictatorship, tortures, assasinations, and pretty much sending the country down the drain.

Please do not get mad at me for my post. It is my opinion and I share it with a lot of people (for a reason). I'm interested in an intelligent and courteous debate! :)

Who's interest are we supposed to be looking out for?

I would asay we are not very successful at getting peace in the ME but to say that we don't want peace is just pure BS. Also I have never heard anyone say that our goal is to occupy Iraq. Even with Saddam gone wouldn't they still bre in OPEC. How exactly does that give us an advantge over their oil?

Also, the average american does not seem to know much about anything besides the USA. Combine that with extreme patriotism and it doesn't make for very good relationships with other nations. Your opinion of Americans is just that, an opinion and a generalization. That combined with your second statement has absolutely no bearing on our re;lationship with other countries because the people who shape those relationships are neither ignorant of other countries nor extreme patriots.

Lastly, september 11 is indeed an extremely sad date. As you all know it is the day of the WTC tragedy. Prove it

Why do you share it with a lot of people? Do you think it is the final word on the subject. Or are you saying that a lot of people share the same opinion? I can't tell from what you wrote here. It's a bit incoherent.

While in Germany during the 80s and early 90s, I found myself in a couple of debates with either Germans or British regarding US politics. During the 80s, former President Reagan was the whipping boy of choice. The early to mid 90s saw the emergence of the GOP and American corporations as the number one priority on the bashing list.

However, remember that the bad-mouthing you see here from Europeans, Canadians and whoever is not really indicative of the people as a whole. What you find here is primarily those with their own agendas and a means (networked computer and a forum) of conveniently expressing said agenda. You might say that you see the exception, not the rule. I must admit that out of around one hundred or so Europeans whom I am very familiar with on a personal basis, not one of them goes on and on and on and on with constant ranting about Israeli mistreatment of Palestinians, US shortcomings, US foreign policy, etc. They are much more preoccupied with practical matters such as bashing their own governments and living their own lives.

Europe, with the exception of France, ;) is truly a very nice place with wonderful people. Don't allow some the of the raving lunatics you see here influence your opinion.
