I have a question about underclocking ram...

I have two sticks of Kingston KHX4000/512R memory. The stock latency timings on these modules are 3-4-4-8. I'm planning on using these with an AMD Athlon XP mobile 2400+, and OC'ing it a bit. What I'm wondering is:

If this Ram is made to run stock at DDR533, and they will only be running at DDR400 or so, can I lower the timings on them from 3-4-4-8 to, say...2.5-3-3-8? Maybe even CAS latency of 2? Or can you not break the lowest listed capable timings? I'm hoping to find some concrete answers and not just heresay, by the way. 😉

It won't damage the memory trying to run it at tighter timings. Since you will be running it below it's rated speed, you should be able to lower the timings some without much trouble. My pc3500 kingmax is 3-4-4-8 at default speed, but I am using it with some pc2100 ddr since I am running at a stock 533mhz FSB, and I have the timmings at 2-2-2-6 with no problems.
