I have a question about telephone wiring and rj-45 cable.

Can I run 150 feet of rj-45 cable using two wires for the telephone line, two wires for fax(plus dsl), two lines for a simple push bell/ringer and the other two not used??

Will this cause any interference with noise to the dsl/telephone line?? Or will the thin wire be thick enough to handle the current or voltage of a simple 24 volt transformer?

I don't want to spend $$ if I don't have to...

TIA!

You should be fine, however double-up on the last two pair (connect them in parallel) to make sure you have enough copper to handle the 24V DC push button. You shouldn't have interference issues, especially if you're not pushing that button all day! I guess that depends on what this button does . . .

The button rings the ringer.

Your the second person to have confirmed this...

Thanks for the reply
