I just change or upgraded to a new Genie gargage door opener and was surprised to find a wireless keypad opener that you can mount outside right next to your garage door. My question is do people try to break it or steal it?? The instructions say that after three wrong codes entered that the unit locks up. Any comments or suggestions?? Or should I just forget about using it???

TIA!

Hmmm, I had one of those a while ago. But it broke down a while ago, and long replaced it with a different garage opener (not sure if it was genie or not).

What we did is just put it behind some bushes or somehwere not so obvious. Doesn't necessarily have to be RIGHT next to it, but somewhere in the vicinty. For us we put it behind a plant attached to the wall, near our front door.

Worked great for me expecially when I was younger, and if I forgot my keys or left em inside the house and got locked out, I could still get in.

Never had any problems w/ people breaking it or stealing it... but then again I live in a really safe neighborhood.

I believe the unit is wireless and must be located very close. I know a lot of folks with this and none have ever had a problem with someone defeating the code and gaining access.
