I don't understand the status of price-too-low.

Does this mean the current price is higher than my bid and at some point it can come down or does it mean my bid is too low to even be accepted for consideration?

Consider the following current pricing for general purpose m3.medium windows usage of $0.0591:

I bid $0.04, but I get a message saying I can't bid lower than $0.30 which is way higher than the current price even is. I don't understand what this means.

Do I have to bid at least 30 cents an hour and hope it comes in less than that?

Iirc, .30 is the current market price for spot instances. When/if usage drops to equal or below .04, your instance will start. You can see current prices in the aws management console.

Ok, thanks for the info. I ended up getting a smaller server for a bid of $0.02 and it seems to be getting the job done. I was trying to set up a game server.
