I forget people's names too easily. I can forget a person's name a few minutes after meeting them. Seems unnatural. However, I have a hard time forgetting a face.

Repeat their name to them when they tell you, and if it isn't common then ask them how it's spelled.

Better yet, write it down.

I barely know the names of my own family. It took me eighteen years to name my cousins. Another four for my cousins kids. I'm still working on my aunts, uncles, & second cousins.

Yes, that would be, but it's not always feasible. Make sure you look the person in the eyes and think about their name as you repeat it. The trick is to really concentrate on the name instead of tossing it into your head as just another name.

It was the coquito. Good old rum does the same trick no matter how it's poured. :)

If you need to remember it for more than a day, write it down and write down a comment about that person when you get a chance:

David - Tall guy who works at pants.com

Actually here's a trick that might actually work for you. Sometimes I picture their name spelled across their forehead letter by letter. Make sure you visualize the letters individually. I use it for difficult to remember names, but it should for any name.

Or label them with a Sharpie.

I think you have to fucus on something for a least 18 sec. for it to be stored to long term memory.

Plasma, you've got to work on that problem. It's serious.

I'm exactly the opposite. When I am introduced to someone, the name is with me forever. However, if I see the same person the next day, I can't remember who it is. I take great pains to study peoples' faces when I meet them.
