I have a problem with this

I got the following email today at work from a co-worker:

As you might know, the head of a company survived 9/11
because his son started kindergarten.

Another fellow was alive because it was
his turn to bring donuts.

One woman was late because her
alarm clock didn't go off in time.

One was late because of being stuck on the NJ Turnpike
because of an auto accident.

One of them missed his bus.

One spilled food on her clothes and had to take time to change.

One's car wouldn't start.

One went back to answer the telephone .

One had a child that dawdled and didn't get ready as soon as he should have.

One couldn't get a taxi.

The one that struck me was the man who put on a new pair of shoes that morning,
took the various means to get to work but before he got there, he developed
a blister on his foot. He stopped at a drugstore to buy a Band-Aid. That is why he is alive today.

Now when I am stuck in traffic, miss an elevator, turn back to answer a ringing telephone... all the little things that annoy me. I think to myself, this is exactly where
God wants me to be at this very moment..

Next time your morning seems to be
going wrong, the children are slow getting dressed, you can't seem to find the car keys,
you hit every traffic light, don't get mad or frustrated; God is at work watching over you.

I don't know anyone that died on 9/11 but the bolded statement really tweaked me the wrong way. So this is basically saying that the thousands of innocent people who died in those buildings and planes were "exactly where god wanted them"? "God" was "watching over them"?

meh...i could go on but I don't see a reason too. what i said above pretty much nails it on the head.

They should join Jesus Camp since they probably believe God wanted the 9-11 victims to be exactly where they were at exactly that time.

Yep... people tend to ignore the bad and only think of the good when they are trying to prove their own faith to themselves.

For every story of someone being saved because their alarm clock didn't go off, there is a story of poeple who died because they had to go in early for a meeting o rbecause a server failed. You just don't hear those because they could cause doubt.

WTF would that bother you?

Just an email anyways.

Does our money offend you since it says "in God we trust"?

I'm not a religious person by far but don't understand this whole anti God thing going on on the forums and how it's ok to bash God believers but not OK to support God without getting flamed.

No posts so far in this thread have been Anti-God. They are mostly anti-ignorance. For if we are to believe people were saved by God because of mundane things like blisters, then we must also consider that God let others die as he did not intervene in their lives with mundane occurrences.

If it's not ok for Pagans to send messages about their gods, then why is ok suddenly if it's the Christian god? I mean if someone quoted the Koran someone would probably call homeland security.

My problem is a place of business is no place for either. If I was in charge and I saw an email like that I would give the person a warning about using the email system needlessly and wasting time. Also, if someone took offence they could sue the company and probably win in today?s society.

It's just a common theme I see all the time on these forums, more of a general observation that I decided to comment on because of this specif post.

I don't really care, I'm not a religious person, I'm really indifferent when it comes to the subject, I don't practice or participate but I don't bash or criticize those that do either.

Just my opinion is all.

I understand why God supporters believe in this stuff is all and don't see why it's even of enough concern for someone else to "have a problem with this" just because it's not his views, but then again this is only my view anyways.

Meh, oh well.

I think so to, but it's so common place that it's pointless to try and curb it unless it becomes a real issue.

I have wondered from time to time if I've avoided death or serious injury because I chose to do something. I like to think of the what if's, I'm weird like that.

I suppose the terrorists have a version of this with everyone making it to work on time just before they lost their lives because that's exactly what Allah wanted.

I hate stupid messages like this. Not only are they insensitive to the people who died, they do no good for any religion. I hate it when stupid people try to make a correlation between coincidental occurances and blame it on their stupid religion when they are COINCIDENCES. Sheesh. /thread
