My sisters PSU died so i replaced it with a new one. Anyway, the damn computer keeps on freezing. And the more times you turn it on to see if it'll work, it just freezes faster. The first time i started it up it got all the way into windows, but then froze like a min after. After a few restarts the computer started freezing up as the bars were loading windows.

I have no idea whats going on...ideas?

Sounds like when her PSU died it took something or several somethings with it.

I'd be looking at these based on the description

a) Memory
b) Hard Drive
c) Motherboard

You could try memtest for the memory; if you can get it to work without freezing that is.

Hmm...i will check that out. Is it possible that a failed PSU could ruin other components as it's dying?

Yes, the PSU problem could have damaged something else. As JDMnAR1 said, check the fans, and possibly the heatsink mounting- this really looks like inadequate heat removal that allows something to overheat. But also, just check all the connections to the fans. Maybe you loosened one in doing the PSU replacement.

By the way, did the old PSU have fan-and-temp sensor leads that plugged into the mobo? Does the new one? Some BIOS's monitor PSU fan speed and temps thorugh those leads. If it is trying to do that, and is not getting any signal to work with now, it could be trying to fix a problem that does not exist.

Is the new power supply equal to or better than the original, especially on the 12v rails?

First thing I'd do is clear the CMOS and reboot, go in and do the BIOS setup making sure the RAM voltage and timings are set properly (I like to use a digital meter to verify voltages). Next I'd try reseating the memory module(s) and video card.
