My thread in VIDEO called:
'Disappointed by Ati AIW Radion32 DDR horid software and no support for good ones-- UPDATE!! Read this Thread!! I changed my Mind!!! OH Boy Oh Boy!!!'

has turned out so well that futrure ati AIW (All-In-Wonder) card holders may wish to read the incredible rich inputs that have come in and are still coming.
If there is a reason to lock a thread ther perhaps should be a reason to preserve a thread, and to index threads with merit, that have value, and to preserve them for prospective readers.

Mods any input? suggestions or actions you may take?
if you have the time to read the thread you may just agree... LOL
what do the rest of u think about equal ballance between reward and punishment and such and how do you propose it could be administered? since threads die if left un used and of course the usefulness of this thread will soon become unknown as it goes the way of the setting sun...

Well what I think about that idea is quite simple. I have no idea what you're talking about. Clarity is important 🙁

Soybomb,
some tools are usfull some are useless. some threads are usefull some threads are useless.
The useless threads are being Locked. I agree with that 100%, they are useless.
The exceptional threads need preserving.
I was disappointed by the ATI AIW card as it seemed to me to be a useless for video card and as it shall seem to many after me, who will try to use the pakaged software, and be disappointed, because there are other tools, that do make the card work. In my thread above, I expressd that, with near anger, and frustration and disbeleif that such a horid product was sold to me, and felt taken advantage of.
The ppl who responded in the thread were, exceptional and knowledgeably capable, presented a complete turn around of mind and offered a tutorial into a field of future of video, that is just around the corner for the masses to get involved

One eventually will caprure from analogue to digital to a hard drive, edit out commercials and mistakes and reduce the resolution to what will still look like a very fine resolution and be able to burn it to a CD.
This will avoid the need to buy a DVD burner and expensive DVD medium. and may be an alternetive to Mpeg4 that is the recent buz name in video
Yesterday, I bought at Costco 100 blank CDs. After rebate and discount they cost me $15 for 100 ea. that comes to 15 Cents a piece. How sweet it is to be able to have 2 hours of video for 15 cents.
Read my thread and decide if such a thread is worth preserving or archiving as a tool. IMHO it is a crime to loose it and it needs archiving or preserving.
I proposed that any such threads as this one, that decidedly have merit and value enough to be a gem, would benefit the anandtech users in the apposit direction from those threads that were locked and deemed useless. I love ballance don't you?
If u understand and agree or disagree do state your views and possible solutions.

Heh, if you want to keep it on top, just keep bumping it! =) It's all right, people will be able to search, and if someone asks a similar question, simply link him to your page.

Hawk 🙂 Thank u M8
How does one link another to their thread? never did that b4.

Another point I am embarased about is I stated that somone in my thread had found a new work around for Mpg4 and this morning discovered it was in fact Mpg4 he was using but Microsoft had another name for that and his using that other name made me erre to beleive he discovered a work around. Video editing is new to me and I still am putting together a computer that will be able to do it. I so far have zerro experience with the ATI since my 133 mhz pentium board has PCI slots only. Hence most of the things I said are reporting other ppl's progress and inputs, for now.

To put in a link to your own thread is like putting in a link to any page. You could just click on the http button on top of the reply text box, and then type in the url and the text you want it to show.

It would appear like this.

I have no clue about Video Editing either...when I have more time I'll mess with it (and I've already had my cards for 6 months or something!) =)

Actually you do not have to type in the url with the http call. You can copy and paste but the way to paste is just put the cursor in the box and right click and you get a dropdown menue allowing you to paste. Just put your url's that you might want to make a reference post in a little word pad document and copy from there. It is a good way to keep stuff that seems answered over and over and just refer to that in your word pad document.
Bleep

Hawk and Bleep I C re URL

Hawk, If your interest is mild in frequency and duration of editing with the card then u have the right card. If you become a serious editor of video you may *slallow hard and sigh * buy a Mac (I will never buy a mac) a friend who Teaches a Video Course in HS Tells me that all Pro Video Editing is done on Macs Macs have had FireWire (EEE 1394) with 400Mbts/sec transfer rates from a DV to the mac and the software is truely Profesional. While You can add a firewire card for 47 to 80 bux to the PC on a PCI card, the software for editing on a PC is young and green and incompatabilities of software on a PC are the rule rather than exception. Read my thread's Latest additions.
