I took my car in for service. A 97 SAturn SL1. The service engine light was on and the car shook when hitting the brakes. Well I just got a call saying that the catalytic converter is bad and that Saturn does not have an after market on it. The cost?? $656!! Thats like a tenth of the cars value. I will never ever never buy another Saturn

You Sir are getting the shaft royally! Any muffler shop will have what your looking for, at an easily lower price. As for your brakes wobbling, I also agree with iamwiz82 that your rotors are probably warped. This can be remedied easily at your local car parts or junk yard and be easily replaced with about an hours time and a chiltons manual on your years make. My sister owns a 1996 Saturn SL2 with 112k worth of miles on it and its given her great service. She bought it used in 1998 with 46k on it. Oils changes every 3000 miles, and K&N air filter with charger. Also run performance plugs and silicone wires. If your cars running a little hot, use an aftermarket oil cooler to help it run a little cooler. Common sense a little research on your part before you have any work done on your car will go a long way to helping your keep your repair charges down and your car running reliably.

Are all saturns like that? The temp gauges aren't suppose to move around like that.

apparently mine and tarheels does, I don't know if they are supposed to or not, but its the first car I've had thats done this.

Wel, its not suppose to. That's the function of the thermostat and the cooling system - to regulate the temperature of the system as close to optimal level as possible. When was the last time you had your thermostat changed and coolant flushed and replaced?

Dude, Catalytic converter are covered by a 10year 100,000 miles warranty mandated by Department of Trans. or whatever agency regulated vehicles. YOu got screwed.
