I have a friend that has a DV7 HP laptop - Upgraded from Vista to Win7 Home Premium upgrade from HP upgraded DVD's

What happening is 3-5 minutes after bootup, The entire screen turns white - Has a scroll line to the right but no slider: At the top of the screen it states ( To help protect your security, Internet explorer has restricted this webpage from running scripts or AvtiveX controls that could access your computer. Click here for options - When you click options are Allow blocked content, Whats the risk, Information bar help

ALso on the bottom line it says Done - All the way to the right it says computer, Then protected mode off, Then there is a grayed out lock with a left arrow sysmol over it with a back down arrow next to the lock ( Options are ) automatically block, Choose content to block, Off, settings ) then next to that has a pic of a magnifying glass then 125%

It doesnt matter what I do anything or options I mentioned above you cant to anything plus the start menu and task line is not there:

Now when I hit Control - Alt-Delete and start the task manager the bottom the start menu appears - I can do everything from the start menu.. But the screen remains white - With the warning I listed above..

I am so lost I have tried everything to remove the white screen with no luck..

Anyone have any ideas - How to get the desktop to come back as normal?? I would appreciate it..

I think I have figured out the problem: Windows 7 was installed using the upgrade software from HP - Its trying to boot to both 7 and vista at the same time.. I dont think it was installed properly.. So I am going to restore it back to Vista and they said that will be good to.. They said Vista is a better operating system anyway 🙂

Well I ended up using the Vista restore partition and just removed windows 7 all the way around. Vista installed and the owner is happy.. backed up all her documents and she will be happy when she gets it..

I dont know why HP would send out upgrade win7 DVD's like that if they are going to cause problems like that:

Also I told her to avoid HP laptops in the future - In the last 3 years I have heard numerous complaints on them and the service support always has a $$$$$$$ amount hooked to it..

Mpitchfamily Thanks for the help 🙂

Also the only thing that is corrupted is HP (LOL)
