I have a kitten question...

I use the Authority Brand they sell at PetSmart. Price is good and the kittens love it. They all seem healthy and are very regular in the poo department.

obvious cat food choice is the blood of his enemies.

cats are weird little assholes. my bengal has no interest in meat, but he'll go crazy for bread.
I can understand meat if the cat was raised on dry food its whole life (one of my cats doesn't know what to do with chicken), but their attraction to fish/fish oil is in their DNA. I seriously don't think it is possible for a cat to not like fish.

I recently switched my cat to this stuff and he seems to like it a lot more than the cheap stuff. They have a kitten food too.

You might think there's a big price difference but remember cats don't eat much. One bag lasts almost two months.

Sounds like owning a kitten is expensive as hell.

He pays for himself by eating everything that moves in the house. I have effectively no spiders, flies, mosquitoes or moths. Some mice tried to take up residence and brutally murdered them and gifted me their corpses.

I'll have to try it out next time I'm cooking fish.

I've tried giving him a piece of cooked but unseasoned chicken when making it for myself, but he had no interest.

I dunno about Costco's Kirkland kitten food (if there is one), but their adult maintenance is pretty good.

I'd probably feed a Blue Buffalo kitten food. Yeah, it's expensive compared to utter garbage like Meow Mix or other grocery store brands, but it's going to last a good long while for just one kitten.

We've used different varieties of Purina Kitten and Cat Chow for all our cats. None of them puked up food ever. We lost two this year, 21 years old, and 17 years old, so it doesn't appear to be unhealthy either. The three year old is still doing great as well.

The food we use has never been recalled either, unlike some of the pricier brands...

i just got a kitten a few weeks ago so i did a lot of reading on the subject. cats carnivores by nature so you want to feed them a diet high in protein. it's best if you can get food that has an actual meat as the primary ingrediant. wet food is better because apparently cats don't drink enough water. A diet too high in carbs can cause them digestive problems, diabetes, etc. when they get older.

If you've been feeding them really cheap dry food sometimes they won't want to switch to a higher quality food. Reason being is the dry food is loaded with artificial flavorings. Basically you're trying to get your cat to switch from junk food (chips/mcdonalds) to something healthy, which probably doesn't taste as good.

If you want to go extreme you could switch your cat to a raw diet. Raw meats, fish, etc.

I've bought a bunch of fancy feast for my cat but I'll probably switch her to some better quality stuff once there's 1/4 left so she has time to adjust.

I will say that two women I met who have 4+ cats each were feeding them the cheap stuff. One lady recommended FF and the other lady who I got the kitten from recommended purina kitten chow.

IME, cats will drink plenty of water if it's not sitting stagnant in a bowl. Get one of those waterfall/fountain water bowls and they'll be much happier about it. Though certainly, feeding wet/canned food every now and then is a nice, healthy treat as well.

yep, a lot cat owners recommend the waterfall things. another thing you can do is mix in some water with the dry food.

My cat is a pig. I think he is afraid he is going to go hungry again so he eats as much as he can.

He spent is 1st 2 months eating like twice a week because nobody cared about him.

Now I have him and he the biggest dick ever and getting fat.

I think Blue Basic should do him some good and the bag will last a month.

That is unwise unless you are talking about prescribed feeding times and taking the food away after. Dry food is safe to eat when left out for a long time because it is dry. Once you add moisture it becomes a bacterial cesspool after a while.

cockroaches flies and mice - whatever is around the house.

I don't go in for that hibrow expensive cat food just friskies.

I have been feeding Natural Balance - Duck & Pea to my 3 cats for awhile. Its a little more expensive but one cat has a very sensitive stomach and it helped immensely. I also supplement 2-3x a week with a can of fancy feast.
