For reference, it's one of these

Thermally-Relevant Specs:
Athlon 64 X2 4200+ @ 2400 MHz (220 MHz FSB)
GeForce 7800GT 256 MB 480 MHz/1.1 GHz Core/RAM
3 Seagate 160GB 7200.9
1 Seagate 320GB 7200.10
Three 5.25 bays filled up, two optical drives and the X-Fi panel
CPU Cooler: Zalman CNPS-9500 running at 100% (plugged right into the motherboard, no speed control)
Graphics Card Cooler: Zalman VF-700Cu, also running at 100%
I've got a noisy as hell TT fan in the window, and an Antec fan in the back along with two more in the front; all 80 mm.
Both the CPU and the GPU had AS5 applied when I first set it all up, in December of 2005. Wow, I can't believe I'm still on the same Windows install...

The CPU idles around 36C, the GFX card at around 46C, with the CPU getting as high as 45C under load; it's usually at 40C. I don't know how good those temperatures are, but my computer was acting retarded until I turned the fans all the way up and allowed it to cool down.

My main complaint is that it's rather noisy, and with 80mm fans being my only option there isn't much I can do about that without killing temps, so I may be in the market for a new case. I'd prefer if it were aluminum, had a window, DAMN GOOD ventilation, and very preferably no front door, as I can't cover the 5.25 drive bays without having to recess the X-Fi panel and also needing to keep the door open in order to use it.

You could use an 80 to 120 fan adapter on the rear similar to this: Outside the Box to improve your current cooling - you'll have to cut out any restrictive grillwork that might be in the rear 80mm fan mount for best results.

Here is probably the best aluminum case you can get for around $100. plus shipping here in the states: Global Win. And here is a decent and light aluminum case that can be had for under $50. shipped AR Mystique 631 - door is reversible or easily removable - they also have black w/o window and silver w/o window.

Can a fan be mounted in that Mystique case's window?

Looks like there is a fan mount there above where a CPU would normally be, but check with SVC to be sure. Looks like the cases w/o window have two potential fan locations on the left side. IMO, most often you should just block off those side vents/fan mounts as they short circuit many air flow patterns - unless you duct them directly to the item that needs cooling.
