Hi all. In today's best buy ad they had a visiontek GF3 Ti200 for $99 (after $100 of rebates heh) and it got me thinking. I have had the idea of getting a GF3 in my head for awhile, but just haven't gotten one yet. I currently have a Geforce1 DDR (hercules i think, but i honestly can't remember). But from what I understand the Ti200 is kinda the GF2MX of the GF3 world. I was just wondering if it would be worth it or not to get the Ti200 or just wait till the Ti500's get cheap (like when the GF4 comes out heh). The GF1 has been fine for this past year, but now with RtCW its starting to show its age a bit. :)

My other system specs are:
Amd 1.4ghz
512MB DDR RAM (256 right now though cause 1 stick just died)

thanks for any advice you guys have :)

Yes it is worth it. You not only get increased fps but increased IQ (in 2d and 3d), as well. At that price ($99), how can you go wrong?

Not really the cheap version, that would be the Gf2 Ti200, the Gf3 Ti200 is much better, though in benches usually a tad lower than the Origional Gf3.

Get in line for the $99.00 Gf3 Ti200. I wish I could.

Yep the GF1 DDR is slightly faster then the original GF2 MX,so going up to GF3 Ti200 will be a big improvement so yes go for it.

No, the GF DDR hammers the MX. The GF DDR is almost as fast as a GTS.

Well I guess it depends on what resolution you use. If you're running at 1024 x 768 x 32 and higher the DDR will cream the MX.

Also if your CPU is slow you won't see much of a difference between the two cards.

Yeah, thats probably why your not seeing much of a difference. You're both usinhg a 900MHz processor which is a total bottleneck for your video card.

When in higher resolutions and 32-bit the GF1 DDR will waste the MX, like BFG10K said.

Back on topic though, you should definitely upgrade. I am almost tempted too, but I don't have the money. I so wish I did, however, I don't know if I'm going to see another deal like this soon. I have to buy more RAM and a new motherboard first before I worry about a new video card. Besides, for all the games I play, the Kyro II is fine. . .

So go out and buy it, already! :)
