He can no longer access text docs in the my documents folder it just gives him a error to the effect windows cant acces the specific file and you may not have the permissions to do so. Any ideas what would cause this? I'm stumped it shows the administrative user he's loged on as has the rights to access the file but it won't open.

edit: so far all I can think of to rec is he uninstall sp2 and see if that fixes it.

Nope, I've actualy dug a bit deeper into this and it appears to be an issue w/ the windows folder being set to read only when notepad is accesed for some reason it messing w/ that attribuite and if its read only it won't run or open other files for some reason. its really weird, he just replaced it with a different txt editor and moved on but its truely odd and I have no clue how to remedy this.

edit: seems to be an issue w/ the system32 folder and notepad.exe not working correctly as opposed to a true permissions issue.
