I was wondering, how do I unlock a XP 1600+? (step by step if possible and without buying kits). Also what and where is a good heatsink and fan for this if I want to overclock it to about 2200+ clock speeds? Also what is the max I can get out of it?
 
if you do a little searching, or even browsing, you'll find other threads about this. from what i can tell, it's not too easy to do (harder than it was for old athlons), but it can be done... i remember seeing a link to a video tutorial... just look around on here, you'll find it. the max you'll be able to get depends on the chip. as far as hsf goes, i like the thermalright ax-7, fan depends on your cooling/noise preferences. another option to look into the crazypc.com's mod of the thermoengine hs. i considered it for a while after reading a couple reviews of it--should be good for your needs. personally i went with the ax-7... i'm sure others will have other opinions. peace.

if you have the right supplies it only takes about 10-20min 🙂

but basically you just need to connect the L1 bridges just like unlocking the old athlons, the only difference is with the xp you need to fill in the pits or the conductive material will ground out
