I have a domain name and web server, now what?

I signed up for free web hosting with megabyet.com and registered xxx.com(example) as a domain name with namecheap.com. At namecheap I modified the URL Forwarding by entering my megabyet address under both @ and www settings. I also set RECORD TYPE to URL Frame. Today when I go to xxx.com it does direct me to my megabyet website and the address shown at the top of the web browser always shows http://www.xxx.com no matter where in my website I go. At the bottom of the browswer it does show the real megabyet addresses.

What settings do I need to change so that the browser shows http://www.xxx.com/ - plus my website directory structure?

Your doing it with cname's now I figure (a alias)
If you have a dedicated IP from megabyet then you can point the domain at that. If its a shared ip you need to point it at the shared IP and add the domain to the hosting provider. (assuming its running Apache virtual directory's)

All you have to do in namecheap is add the DNS nameservers .. .ie ns5.host.com, and ns6.host.com , you should not HAVE to do anything else, but CNAMES should work too..@ ip.

Once you get your domain name to resolve properly to their web servers, then you can see if they have directory listings enabled or not, it's entirely up to them if that option works or not.

So I could either use Namecheap's DNS servers or my own or my webhost's DNS servers? Once I changed DNS server to my webhost's I no longer use Namecheap's DNS servers? How will my webhost's DNS name servers know that www.xxx.com should point to xxx.megabyet.net(that was the free subdomain given to me by my webhost)? Does it simply take the xxx part of the the name and do a search of subdomains?

Is it possible or preferrable to use Namecheap's DNS name servers instead of my webhost's? I'm thinking since Namecheap is the bigger company their servers would do a better job.

Since you are using free subdomain, i'd let namecheap do your DNS, since if they shut you off, you can switch it pretty easily...and namecheap has a lot of DNS options for you...especially if you are going to get complicated with email/subdomains/etc.

In namecheap DNS, point your domain to xxx.megabyet.com.
