I have a couple of questions for you tablet pc owners

I'm definitely going to get a tablet pc in 2011, however I'm curious about a couple of things. I'm a hardcore reader and I'm curious if any tablet pc has e-ink or comparable technology. From what I understand the Ipad does'nt have it, but I don't know if that's true of other tablets.

My 2nd question is has anyone here used their tablet for a comic book reader? I would like to eventually sell off my boxes of comics (probably about 40) and invest in building up a digital library of those same comics. I'm really, really, really hyped about seeing how comics look on a tablet. Can anyone post up screenshots or pictures of their tablets with a comic book reader?

There is no Tablet PC with E-ink

Tablet PCs are too heavy to be used as a hardcore reader.

Wait until CES tons of new tablets coming out.

The Notion Ink Adam, which has finally hit PreOrder stage, but is not actually yet available has E-Ink.

There is an app for the iPad called Comics by Comixology and it is pretty great on the iPhone. I do not know if you can add in your own scans or not.

Comics would probably look really nice on my Thinkpad x61 tablet. It has an IPS screen with 1400x1050 resolution. However, it'll be heavy and I wouldn't want to hold it up for too long.

I think the Ipad might have the most comic support (also support from publishers). I was at a comic con a few months ago and saw the talk about comics on Ipads. It definitely looked nice. I'm not a fan of Ipad or the current pricing/limitations on ebooks/comics. Though, it might work for you.

When the Adam goes beyond vaporware, it might work for the OP. I think it'll be too heavy for an e-reader though. Honestly, the Kindle/Nook are cheap enough that you can buy one and buy the tablet PC of your choice later.

Important to note that that's a tablet, as opposed to a tablet PC. (we need better terminology to differentiate).

Comics need color. That currently eliminates Kindle. Nook or Pandigital Novel. Color eInk is forthcoming (Kindle) but will be about $500 a pop.

My wife loves reading her Japanese magazines on an iPad. She's all of 100lbs and the weight is not significant to her over a dedicated reader.

The current Nook is LCD and can be rooted to run vanilla Android 2.1 (maybe 2.2).

Based on the current offerings, you might want to look at the NookColor for $250. It's not a full "tablet PC," but it can do some of what you want, and once rooted, it can do most of what you might want. Imagine a 7 inch device with a pretty good screen and so-so CPU power that can access your Nook digital books, your Kindle books (through the android Kindle app), and (almost) any other Android app. It's a pretty nice device for $250 although it does have some shortcomings.
