I have tried to reload windows to correct the problem and ran just about every dignostic program that I have to correct this problem, only to come up snake eyes. I would delete and start over but I have some important files that I want to back up and the burner is not working correctly to do this. is there anything i can do to correct this problem. i have used norton 2000 win doc and disk doc to try and fix it and it does n't come up at all. is there anything in DOS that I can run that would help ? thanks for any information in advance

Obviously you did not make an emergency floppy boot set.
I do not know what file system you are using (NTFS, FAT32, )
but assuming you are using NTFS, dos cannot see your partition(s), so the only other solution is to get Norton Ghost 6.0 or DriveImage 4.0 from someone (it will be on a floppy).
Boot up with CDROM support and clone your directory files to your CDR (I am assuming you have a CDR).
Your other option would be to use Partition Magic 6 and move your data to a new partition before reinstalling.

I am assuming you cannot fix your problem and these suggestions are ways to save your files before wiping out the partition.
Now you see why we have multiple partitions (seperate from the o/s).
PM me if you want to ust these options.
