I have a concept for a game similar to planetside 2

But what would I need to do, to put it in a proper format, to even be considered? It's mostly a storyline, and a few concepts, that to my knowledge, have never been used in a game thus far.

You have nothing, really... at this point. Concepts aren't anything, the ability to do something with those concepts... now that would be worth something.

Make a kickstarter page with some snazzy screenshots and maybe a video. That way you get to transfer all the risk of your project to consumers while keeping all the rewards for yourself.

If you talk to authors, game designers, publishers, they'll all tell you that ideas are a dime a hundred-dozen. They have stacks and piles and vaults full of ideas of their own that will never be made.

Most of them also refuse to accept "idea" submissions for fear that you'll sue them if one of their own projects happens to have any similarities to yours. Which happens fairly often -- two people read the same news item or watch the same episode of National Geographic and decide to write movie scripts about killer volcanoes or asteroids heading to destroy Earth.

Could you do it as a mod for an existing game? That's one route.

Could you write it up as a novel or webcomic? That's another.

Just curious - is this similar to PS2 because your idea is for an MMOFPS, or it's a single player game with a setting similar to Auraxis?

It's similar because it's two factions fighting for world power. The fight encompasses the entire world and it's only massive pvp. It has the classic concept of the other side is a wicked terrible entity that would love nothing more to enslave those who don't fight back, and destroy anything that does.

TO all others I'm not trying to draw up something to pitch right away. I'm trying to figure out how to get artists and further along possibly give a shot at making a kickstarter.

It's nothing groundbreaking or gamechanging, the few concepts I would love to see are such as if you get hit with a friendly emp grenade you lose your HUD and any electronic based equipment you have until you respawn. And other such idea's as if your character isnt strong enough or a high enough level, you can pick up the gun but when you use it... the aim will be very poor and it might knock you on your ass and cause self inflicted damage. No recharging shields or health, a medic is a class you need to have or you will die frequently.

A novel for a backstory would be a great idea! But I don't think I've ever played a good game that was based on a book.

That sounds perfect for a mod / mutator for an existing game then.

The odds of you being able to raise millions to do the development then set up the servers for massive pvp are pretty low. If you can get it implemented on some other game you might convince the Planetside developers (or Tribes, or ...?) to adopt some of your ideas.

Those features would work fine in other games. Except my idea is set in the actual world, except it's prehistoric times. The main backdrop is Pangaea. So it actually acts as sort of a prequel that other games could spin off of.
